Now that you know basically what level of care you or your loved one needs based on the questions and descriptions earlier and financing options it’s time to start looking for your “right fit”

Things to consider:

• Location – do you or your loved one want to be near family or friends, near doctors, near familiar neighborhoods and stores?
• Financing – do you or your loved one have any concerns about running out of money? If so it is advised to find a community that has a Medicaid contract so if you or your loved one does outlive your money you can stay in the same community and Medicaid will cover your room and care expenses. Not all communities have Medicaid contracts.
• Atmosphere – what is important to you or your loved one? Is food important, do you or your loved one have specific dietary needs? Do you want a religious based community; do you want resident gardens; do you like to play bridge, poker, canasta or pinochle; is a pool or personal trainer important; do you or your loved one want to be with residents with similar backgrounds and/or interests? Often by touring a community you’ll know in your gut it’s the right place for you.
